Unpacking once and being in several New England cities and New Brunswick and Nova Scotia during the warm summer months was our 50th Anniversary 'Get Away' with the entire family (13 of us). Everyone could do what they pleased on board and for shore excursions and we could still get together and share our experiences each evening. The food was O.K. (not as good as the premium lines (Celebrity or Princess)) and the staff and service was excellent. Entertainment was good but a little short on variety (twice had one show only in a small venue that couldn't possibly hold all the passengers) and the ship's singers and dancers were excellent. Weather cooperated and this was a wonderful cruise.
Positives: Great service, friendly staff, clean ship, efficient crew
Negatives: Mediocre food with better food available at a premium in the main dining room or at the specialty restaurants. Food was labeled with fancy names but the resulting dish was less than advertised.
Bring things to do -- unless you like trivia games, they are somewhat short on educational or enrichment programs that are not tied to spending money (art auctions, jewelry sales, etc).
This is an older (20+) ship so it has more room than the newer ships. We had more room than we needed with plenty of storage. Bring a surge protector or gang plug if you have electronics and magnets for the walls. Room was well appointed and clean. telephone service was spotty -- some of the voicemail boxes were inoperable.
