We chose this cruise because it was a smaller boat, leaving from near our home, and was a part of the Autism on the Seas program. It fell during our son's summer vacation and seemed like the perfect first cruise for our family. And, it absolutely was! This was a fantastic experience! The Autism on the Seas staff made it easy - their program includes such gems as: assistance through security, assistance boarding the boat, a private muster drill, meeting 1:1 with the staff to let them know about your child, assistance during mealtimes, DAILY RESPITE CARE! (OMG, I loved this!), and assistance during shore excursions. Because of their services and their top notch staff, we will never vacation without them!
As for Celebrity, the staff was friendly and accommodating. Many got to know our son by first name (which was charming, not creepy). The boat was older, but it suited our needs well. Rather than a large, overwhelming, boat, we liked that there was one pool area, one main dining room, one buffet, one theater, etc. It wasn't too crowded and we could easily use the stairs or the elevator to get where we were going.
Our cabin staff, dining staff, and the Autism on the Seas staff made this a perfect vacation for our family and we did NOT want it to end!
This cabin was great! It was larger than the average Oceanview room and looked out over the Helipad on the prow of the boat. It was very comfortable for our family of 3. The large side chair pulled out into a single bed that was very comfortable, though our son also fell asleep in the window seat in front of the large window. There were plenty of cabinets and storage in the room and the bathroom was larger than I expected. It was also helpful that they had a laundry line in the shower for drying wet bathing suits.
