Going on a cruise was at the top of my bucket list, and Alaska was the place I most wanted to see. So when my brother invited us to join his family on this trip, I didn't hesitate to book a stateroom on the beautiful Radiance of the Seas. From the gorgeous centrum with its twin waterfalls to the elegantly appointed Cascades dining room, all public areas on the ship are absolutely lovely. Works of art were on display everywhere, competing with the spectacular views outside the many glass walls and huge windows. Even the elevators had glass walls. Our interior cabin was surprisingly spacious and there was ample storage. The beds were so comfortable that it was often hard to get up early enough for shore excursions. Our stateroom attendant Benny was superb. He went above and beyond his duties to make sure we had everything we needed, including wine glasses, a corkscrew, a pair of scissors, and green apples (for our daughter's brief episode of motion sickness). The towel animals that greeted us on several occasions were delightful. All of the staff members were polite and eager to please. Our dining room waiters, Stanley and Jude, were excellent and very accommodating. We enjoyed the food at the Windjammer buffet for breakfast and lunch, but dinners at the Cascades were the highlights of our days. Everything we ate was delicious. Chef Carlito even prepared a special breakfast one day and an all-Filipino dinner on our last evening. The musicians are all very talented, and it was a pleasure to wander around to different areas of the ship and listen to their variety. With regard to shows at the Aurora Theater, we especially enjoyed the magician and the comedian who performed impressions. The events in the Centrum were also interesting and enjoyable, including the performances by the cruise director Steve. I particularly loved the egg drop contest, which involved a lot of creativity and engineering to land a raw egg safely after being dropped from Deck 10. In sum, this unforgettable trip has turned my husband and me into cruise converts, and we're already planning our next one.

Interior Stateroom

Cabin L

Surprisingly spacious, with enough storage space, including under the beds. Comfortable beds, including the Murphy bed that pulls down from the ceiling.

Vancouver

Beautiful Art Deco buildings in the Gastown area. Don't miss Granville Island with its local artists shops and farmers market.
