The Viking Lofn staff and crew were simply amazing, very friendly and outgoing. They made sure that this vacation was incredible.
The only hitch in the vacation came directly from Viking, and that was the flight arrangements. Flying from Los Angeles into Paris, and only having a 1-1/2 hour layover does not give enough time for any mishaps in the schedule. We missed our connecting flight to Amsterdam by 10 minutes, since we had left Los Angeles 45 minutes late. We eventually made it to Amsterdam and stayed at the Movenpick Hotel right at the port.
I had ordered the IAmsterdam cards for everyone in our party, which allows bus/trains etc.
We were near the back of the ship. The only time that we were really aware of the props was when they turned them off. Very minimal vibration.
Walking tour after the end of the canal cruise. Stopped to taste the herring.
Went back that night to see the red light district.
Had a wonderful guide that Viking hired. We walked our legs off, since we stayed the whole day after the tour ended exploring on our own. Went to Chocolate museum, Cathedral, Old Town etc. Lunch by the river.
Bus ride to a small town in the Black Forest, wandered thru the shops.
We were there during the street festival. Because of the recent event in Nice, they had the city blocked off, no vehicles were allowed inside. However we parked and walked in after being throughtly searched. Strasbourg was beautiful, the cathedral magnificent.
Arrived on their independence day, so not a great day. Everything was eeriely vacant and closed down. The city had celebrated all night. Started to come back to life late in the afternoon from what we heard. Check festivals dates!
