The Viking Lofn staff and crew were simply amazing, very friendly and outgoing. They made sure that this vacation was incredible.
The only hitch in the vacation came directly from Viking, and that was the flight arrangements. Flying from Los Angeles into Paris, and only having a 1-1/2 hour layover does not give enough time for any mishaps in the schedule. We missed our connecting flight to Amsterdam by 10 minutes, since we had left Los Angeles 45 minutes late. We eventually made it to Amsterdam and stayed at the Movenpick Hotel right at the port.
I had ordered the IAmsterdam cards for everyone in our party, which allows bus/trains etc.
Well worth the price since we arrived 3 days before the cruise. We fell in love with Amsterdam. Would definitely go back there.
When we boarded the Lofn we had a Veranda B cabin. The cabin is beautifully laid out, plenty of storage. We enjoyed the balcony, sitting out and watching the swans, and scenery. Some of the locks we went thru we saw from our balcony, quite an experience.
Our room steward learned out habits quickly and made sure that we always had fresh water and an ice bucket filled with ice. Cabin was spotless!
The shore excursions were fun and informative. We did do a lot of walking, though there was a leisure group, for those who had trouble with stairs, and hills. Most of what they saw were the same things but just easier access. The personal communication systems work great. Was able to hear the tour guides clearly, could even wander a little and be able to still hear them.
Food was wonderful, if we wanted only appetizers they brought them, can't decide between two things, no problem. Wine and beer were good. We didn't get the silver package, if you like mixed drinks it might be worth the price.
Most everyone on board was over 55. The ship is really not set up for children.
We were near the back of the ship. The only time that we were really aware of the props was when they turned them off. Very minimal vibration.
We actually took two, 1 with the Viking group, and 1 with the IAmsterdam card. Enjoyed hearing the history of the building styles, good orientation activity.View All undefined undefined Reviews

Had a wonderful guide that Viking hired. We walked our legs off, since we stayed the whole day after the tour ended exploring on our own. Went to Chocolate museum, Cathedral, Old Town etc. Lunch by the river.
Bus ride to a small town in the Black Forest, wandered thru the shops.
Guide hired by Viking, fun and interesting.View All undefined undefined Reviews

Amazing guide, ironically he was a British student studying in Heidelberg. Knew a lot of the details involved with the castle building.View All undefined undefined Reviews

We were there during the street festival. Because of the recent event in Nice, they had the city blocked off, no vehicles were allowed inside. However we parked and walked in after being throughtly searched. Strasbourg was beautiful, the cathedral magnificent.
Arrived on their independence day, so not a great day. Everything was eeriely vacant and closed down. The city had celebrated all night. Started to come back to life late in the afternoon from what we heard. Check festivals dates!
