Cabin: Interior Stateroom

This Ultimate Baltic cruise was the reason we chose this cruise. The ship visited Denmark, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Russia and Finland, there was only 1 day at sea and so it was exhausting rather than relaxing.

We had an internal stateroom, which was in very good condition, and we had no issues at all. Our room attendant was excellent.

Because this cruise was so port intensive we decided to eat informally in Windjammers for the length of the cruise and we found the food there to be of excellent quality. The service was also very good, and on a number of occasions gluten free meals were specially prepared.

Interior Stateroom

Cabin K

This interior stateroom was in good condition, with adequate space for storage, and everything in good working order, so no complaints at all.

Port Reviews

Copenhagen

Lovely city, we spent 2 days there before we went on the cruise. It was easy to get public transport to the port, as there is a shuttle bus that leaves from near the central station.

Rostock (Warnemunde)

There was a shuttle bus to the city of Rostock which was quite a long way from the port. We found this expensive but were told there was no public transport available. In fact some German guests were able to walk to a public bus, but they were able to access local information. We were given a map at the bus showing a self-guided walking tour which we followed. Rostock was a very pleasant city to stroll around, with an amazing Medieval church which had somehow survived bombing, and some other lovely buildings too.

Riga

We took the shuttle bus for $14 each into the city as the port was a long way away. We got a map from the Visitor Information office and followed the recommended self-guided walking tour of both the old and new parts of the city. We found the buildings and history to be very interesting and it was an easy city to navigate on foot. There were some lovely parks and gardens to relax in also.

Tallinn

There was a 30 minute walk into the old town of Tallinn, and again we followed the map given to us from the Information centre at the pier to do our own exploring. This was a city with an interesting history, and we were able to access the main sights- castles, churches etc. easily.

St. Petersburg

We pre booked a 3 day tour with Alla Tours which had been recommended to us on a number of occasions by others we had met on previous cruises and we were very pleased with our choice. We had 2 full days in St. Petersburg as well as a day in Moscow which we accessed by fast train. That day started at 5.30am and finished after midnight but it was worth it! We were able to see all the main sights that these cities are renowned for, and everything we saw was spectacular. We will never forget our time in Russia...

Helsinki

We took the hop-on hop-off bus right from the pier and were able to see the sights easily. It was a public holiday and nothing much was open. We enjoyed strolling by the waterfront, but it is a very small city and after 2 hours we were ready to return to the ship.
