We are a 60-ish couple on our 41st cruise. This is my 21st Cruise Critic review. This is our 3rd Celebrity cruise and our 2nd in 13 months on the Summit. We booked this cruise aboard the Summit last May for the purpose of watching the America’s Cup Races in Bermuda. Were that the only goal, we would have accomplished what we set out to do, but the races only occupied the second weekend, so there was plenty of “regular” cruise experiences going on during this 9-day voyage.
We always enjoy Bermuda and we like that our Diamond-level with Royal Caribbean is honored (as Elite) here on Celebrity. That said, this will likely be our last voyage on the Summit. There isn’t anything particularly bad about this ship or this voyage, but nothing is over-the-top, one-of-a-kind or best-in-class. Everything is acceptable, nothing is exceptional. When I review a ship that isn’t RCCL, I must always present a disclaimer, citing that because of our Diamond status with Royal, we always feel a little bit slighted by other lines that don’t do as much for their best customers. Still, we are Platinum with Carnival (their top level) and they don’t so much for us; no open bar, no dedicated lounges. Same thing with NCL. But Celebrity does honor our status with RCCL and still they miss the mark. Bars around the ship do not have free drinks. RCCL loads 3 free drinks on your card every day, valid from 5-8:30 for Diamond and above members, redeemable at any bar/lounge. On this ship it’s the Revelations Lounge or nothing and that wasn’t even every day.
But, aside from that…
Spacious accomodations. Nice location between the aft and center elevators. large closet and plenty of storage. no complaints at all.
