We chose this cruise for the itinerary, only. The reviews of the food on board did not interest us, after all, we could eat great food at home. The reviews of the service did not interest us because we stay in 5 star hotels and receive plenty of great service. This was our thought. And our last few cruises had disappointed us so greatly that we had turned to private expedition land travel. So, our expectations were low and we simply wanted to see the ports, etc. What a wonderful surprise. It turns out the food was so exceptional that we were able to eat at the buffet when we chose. The specialty restaurants were an adventure in themselves. The service was the quiet, excellent service we fell in love with on safari in Africa. Rather than elaborate, I think I can best explain by saying that we have now booked another cruise with Oceania and will book another for 2019 when the cruise information is made available. Yes, it really is that good.
We chose our cabin because it was mid-ship and had an elongated deck, covered near the cabin and open at the far end. We did not think we needed the concierge level, but that was a mistake (remedied on our next cruise). The perks of the concierge level would be well worth the very little added cost: early choice of dining reservations; early disembarking...
