Have been on 8+ cruises and travelled on other cruise lines before (NCL, Holland America, Carnival, and Celebrity). Tried MSC based on itinerary and time available. Had read mixed reviews, but thought to give it a try.
Cabin:
PRO - nice, clean, comfortable CON - shower stall was very small, even for a small/regular sized person
The cabin was nice and very clean. The shower stall was pretty small.
Booked a Hop-On/Hop-Off tour on shore and got off at the Cathedral. Great place to see and worth the 7 Euros entrance fee. Our second stop was in the center of town where we had some great Sangria and ice cream under palm trees in one of the many street cafes. Very relaxing day in a modern, clean and NOT congested town. Also a good and inexpensive place to shop.
Booked another Hop-on/Hop-off tour on shore BUT made the mistake of not asking first how long each route took (there are two routes) and not familiarizing ourselves with the points of interests on each route. We decided to complete both routes and then get off where we saw things that we liked on the second time around, but ran out of time. We got to see a lot of Barcelona - a nice town, but really missed out on exploring some great sights. Suggestion - take the route that takes you to the Olympic Stadium and get off there, lots to see. Then continue on to the Gothic Cathedral in downtown Barcelona - lots to see there as well. If you still have time take the 2nd route that takes you to the Basilica Sagrada Familia BUT make sure that you book entrance tickets online before you go.
Booked through cruise line - by bus, train and boat. Sadly did not get to go on this tour personally since I was out of commission due to food poisoning. Those of our party who were able to go enjoyed the sights (like walking in the photos that you see).
