We did not know what to expect, this being our first cruise, but decided to go for it and glad we did! We packed in loads at our destinations and on board. My husband, who is over 60 ... tried for the first time the Flow Rider and thought it was amazing, with a very patient and encouraging team helping him.
When we booked, our main priority was to visit the destinations, and to be honest, we both hoped the food and accommodation would be ok, but had accepted what will be will be. In fact we found the standard and quality of the food was absolutely fine ... it's not fine dining, but that's not what we expected considering there are 4,500 clients on board from a diversity of cultures. We only ate in the main dining room and Windjammer, but considering they have the task of producing so much food, we thought they did an amazing job. In Windjammer I usually choose food from the side walk going into the restaurant, rather than in the main restaurant itself. We especially enjoyed the oriental curries and there was also a lot of salad and fruit as well. I would definitely recommend the full drinks package .... our favourite cocktail was the Caribbean Cooler! When we had early morning starts we always ate breakfast in Windjammer, it was handy for us as our stateroom was stern of the ship ... so literally just up in the lift and you're there!
Every single member of staff seemed genuinely happy and pleased to see us 100% of the time, and nothing was ever too much trouble ... even if they had to go on a hunt for what we wanted ... no matter what time of day/night it was! They were more than happy to chat and listen to us ... their customer service is exemplary.
The bed is super-comfy and the cabin is a good size. Great to have a balcony and the fridge was useful to keep cool bottled water in. The location is at the far end of the ship .... so if you have been to anything at the front of the ship, it's a long walk back! It seemed a quiet area of the boat and conveniently not too much of a walk to the lifts/stairs to go to Windjammer, play table tennis, crazy golf or surf rider.
We just weren't fans of the decor and the bathroom let it down.
We did our own thing in Barcelona ... we went on a rickshaw ride for about 1hour ... we thought it was brilliant. "Rocky" our guide took us down quaint little streets that you would never have got a car down ... he was very knowledgeable and would stop to show us things.
We went to Portofino ... beautiful place, lots of tourists!!!!
Had a Prosecco in a stunning location by the water.
Great connection from where our boat landed to the Fast boat to Capri ... only took about 10 minutes to walk to the terminus and then 50 minutes by fast jet to Capri. cost €30 each.
We joined the trip to the Blue Grotto, (expected time 1hr 30mins), but due to an exceptionally busy day we ran out of time, so we had to transfer to another boat and make our way back without seeing the Blue Grotto. NB the boat ride for this is only 15 minutes to the blue grotto, then you have to wait outside it for around 45 minutes to wait your turn to be picked up to go in. During this wait there were many boats also waiting too, so it was pretty busy outside the grotto!
