We chose to do this trip with Vantagetravel.com because the overall value was greater than booking the cruise, hotels, & excursions separately. We found that all interactions with the ship's crew were pleasant and that our needs were met quickly.
As all others have pointed out, like all other Hurtigruten cruises in Norway, it's a working ship. There are about 64 ports of call, and they're spaced so that the ones you don't see on the north-bound direction (when the stop is in the middle of the night) are daytime stops on the south-bound portion after turning around in Kirkenes.
The ship squeezes into some narrow fjords that offer stunning scenery. The two guys on the ship's "Expedition Team" give talks and point out various points of interest.
We were in a "picture window with occluded view" cabin in the middle section of deck 5. We could easily see out approx. 30x40 inch window; the occlusion was a lifeboat hanging about 9 ft above the deck. All cabins on deck 5 with windows look out over the outside walkway that circles the entire deck. If you keep your lights off in the room it's hard to see in because of the reflective solar treatment on the outside of the window. Close the curtains for complete privacy. The cabin was small but functional.
