I would highly recommend this itinerary. Flying to San Juan, Puerto Rico is quite a journey from California but what a lovely place to visit. The people are so very friendly and we always felt safe. Do come a few days early as our flight was delayed and we got in the following day. The ship Adventure of the Seas is very nice, clean and lots to do, never a dull moment. Our Cruise Director Casey had stuff for everyone to do all day long. The food was great in the dinning room and the buffet was good too. Our room was well taken care of and our excursions were fantastic. We went to St. Thomas, Curaçao, Aruba and St. Kitt's. All wonderful places.

So three complaints I have about Royal Caribbean, they are small complaints but I don't like nit picking and I feel like Royal Caribbean nit picks. 1. I have many lanyards at home from previous cruises and I understand not everyone uses a lanyard but I do, I could have brought one from home but I didn't because I didn't want even more lanyards to bring home so I waited until I got to the ship. There was a nice Puerto Rican man selling cool lanyards that say Puerto Rico for $5, I kind of wanted one but didn't buy it because I figured I was getting one. NO, I was wrong, Royal Caribbean does not give you lanyards, you have to buy one in their store and they are more than $5, definitely not happy about that. I understand again, not everyone uses a lanyard and it's a waste to give to people when they are not going to wear, so ask and give to those who truly want one, its pennies on the dollar for them to make them in bulk. 2. Laundry... There are no self serve laundry facilities on the Royal Caribbean ship. Are you kidding me? It would have been fine if I knew, I would have made arrangements for this but I thought I would do laundry at some point on the ship, we were gone for 10 days. Oh but you can pay $35 to shove a few pieces in a very narrow bag and they will do it for you, I don't think so. So we did laundry for 2 hours in the AM while in Aruba. 3. I always buy a specialty coffee card when on a cruise. So I am ordering coffees and by day 4 I realize out of a 15 stamp coffee card I now only have 2 stamps left so I ask about this and I find out that each coffee I drank, Grande was 2 punches. Really? So if I ordered 2 Talles and put it in a Vente cup I would have had more coffee and the same amount of card punches. Again, had I known I would have dealt with the situations but I felt like there was 0 communication after I booked the cruise and these things I knew nothing about. Would I go on a Royal Caribbean cruise again? Yes but now I am more informed of the things that are important to me, I hope this helps someone else know too.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin E3

The cabin was nice and clean, roomy enough, nice balcony, maybe a little smaller than others due to the fact that we were the last room to the from of the boat but it was fine. We enjoyed our balcony a lot.

Port Reviews

San Juan

We did our own things in Puerto Rico, old town, the fort, Barrachina Restaurant, known for inventing the Piña Colada. Had coffee at Cafe Colao, recommended by a local. Shopped in Old Town and went to the beach every day.

Aruba

We booked a room at the Renaissance in Aruba because our port time was very late and we wanted to enjoy the hotels private Island. If we didn't book a room which we paid $250 we would have had to pay $99 PP, we have a family of 4 so booking a room was perfect, plus we used there laundry facilities since there was no self serve laundry available on board the ship. A win-win... I highly recommend doing this.
