This is my third cruise on the Breakaway (and third to Bermuda). This is a great itinerary and Bermuda is always a great place to visit. Having a two night, three day stay on the island makes for a nice, relaxing time compared to the multiple port call cruises that are typical for the industry.

Embarkation was very smooth and efficient. I arrived at the pier around 10:00am and was in boarding group 8. The checkin process was smooth and efficient. The staff kept people informed and made the embarkation process very stress-free.

I stayed in a Studio cabin on Deck 11. I had previously been in a Studio cabin on the Escape in 2016. The studio cabin layout is nearly identical to the one I had on the Escape. The only difference was the lack of mood lighting for the Breakaway's studio cabin. Not a big deal. I only have two negative things to say about the cabin experience.

Studio Stateroom

Cabin T1

I stayed in a Studio cabin on Deck 11. I had previously been in a Studio cabin on the Escape in 2016. The studio cabin layout is nearly identical to the one I had on the Escape. The only difference was the lack of mood lighting for the Breakaway's studio cabin. Not a big deal. I only have two negative things to say about the cabin experience.

The first is the excessive wear on the furnishings (cabinets, floors, etc). This ship is into her 5th year so it is time for a dry-dock and hopefully the issues with this and other cabins will be addressed. The second was the lack of soundproofing in the cabins. You could easily hear crew working in nearby rooms late into the night. I understand the crew has work to do and it must be done at particular times. Being this was the first ship in her class, I feel there were some design flaws that were hopefully addressed in future builds.

When you stay in the studio cabin, you have access to the Studio lounge where coffee drinks (cappuccino, espressos, etc. via a coffee machine) and pastries are available all day. Also in the evenings a bartender will be available to order drinks. We had a solo travelers meet n greet each evening in the Studio Lounge that was hosted by a member of the cruise staff. Our solo travelers host on this sailing was Benjel. She was absolutely fantastic. She made dinner and show reservations for us, made sure we were aware of events happening that evening and the following day. I cannot say enough nice things about Benjel!

I did encounter multiple times where the coffee machine in the studio lounge was non-functional. I had to call and make multiple visits to Guest Services. Each time I called or went by, they did address the issue and get the machine working. However, it continued to break which was very frustrating in the morning or late evening when you wanted a cup of coffee. Another sign this ship in overdue for some upgrades and refurbishment.
