Embarkation Although we live in Tampa, this was the first time we had sailed from Tampa. The Channelside area where the port terminals are located, is a very congested area, as there are several tourist attractions in the area. This made the embarkation process slow. Even once we were finally in the terminal building, there were long lines for the check-in process. We find the process a lot simpler at Port Canaveral. The ship The Inspiration was upgraded a few years ago, even so we were impressed by the condition of an older ship. If they had to make an improvement it would be to the elevators and elevator lobby areas. They have seen better days. Otherwise the decor was top notch. We spent a lot of time on the lido deck (that is were the food and drink is :)). Off of the lido deck there is an area called the serenity deck that is reserved for guests over 21. It was nice to have an area free from kids and it offered a great place to enjoy a meal and relax outside. Our cabin We had an inside cabin on the upper deck. We really like the cabins on Carnival. Although they are comparative in size to other cruise lines, they have done a great job in laying out the cabin so that you don't feel cramped. The bedding is excellent on Carnival. The cabin staff did an excellent job on our cabin. It looked so clean it was like we were the first people to use the cabin. Bathroom was spotless. Dining This was first time we had tried anytime dining. The experience was good, but I think next time we will go with a scheduled dinner time. The anytime made us lazy to get ready for dinner. The food throughout the cruise was excellent. There was a varied choice of foods and we could always find something that was appealing. Best meal was on the formal night when I had lobster tail, tiger shrimp and porterhouse. Everyday they have the melting chocolate cake available which is one of our favorites. The staff in the dining room did not appear as friendly as usual and this might be because we sat at a different table each night. Although we had one excellent main waiter who made the evening fun for the table. We only ate breakfast in the dining room once, choosing the Lido deck the other days. Entertainment This ship had been upgraded a few years ago, so there is a water park that kids will really enjoy. The ship had the usual casino, which was as stingy as usual :). The shows and comedians were enjoyable. Ports of call This cruise went to Grand Cayman and Cozumel, both of which we had been to before. In Grand Cayman we hired a scooter (for $8 an hour, with $100 deposit) and went around the island. We stopped in at the Tortuga rum shop, were we got some free samples of cake and rum. We had lunch at Calico Jack's on the beach. Very nice island feeling. We enjoyed swimming with the water feeling like warm bath water. As we had been shopping in Cozumel previously, we decied to take a walk along the water front, which proved difficult to do because it was a really hot day. So we enjoyed a few hours in a restaurant having a cerveza or two. Disembarkation This was lot easier than getting on the ship. We did self assist, so there was no waiting for luggage. They called us by deck and we were the second deck to be called. As always it was a sad feeling to be returning to every day life and to leave behind being spoiled on the ship. We found this cruise, like all others, to be an awesome experience and still the best value for money. I cannot wait for our next cruise which will be on the Carnival Dream.

After embarkation, it was Fun, Fun, Fun

Cabin Review

Cabin
We had an inside cabin. One thing we have enjoyed about Carnival is the layout of their cabins. Although comparative in size to those on Royal Caribbean, they just seem better laid out. More space to move around the bed.
