Personally this was the best family vacation we ever had. Even the weather cooperated because our port of calls were not that humid for once. I don’t think I can do bigger ships. The Allure of the Seas is big enough for me thank you.

Ports:

Once again we only took this ship because of my husband’s schedule. On this particular trip, the ship went to St. Maarten, San Juan (Puerto Rico) and Labadee (Haiti). Every trip has a port no one is wild about and this one was Haiti but it worked out anyway.

Port Reviews

St. Maarten

I did a day pass at the Sonesta Maho Beach Resort, Casino & Spa and do not recommend it. It was too expensive for such an outdated resort. Plus the cab fare going and coming is a little too much money than what I was willing to spend. But the beach is wonderful.

Labadee

The vendors have calm down a notch. They will still approach and if you turn down politely they will back off. The lunch provided by royal Caribbean is really subpar. Plus they need to increase the tram service badly. There was a reason why when security would tell you as you are getting off the ship: “Enjoy the blazing sun.” At least Labadee had a fair number of showers and bathroom facilities. All employees look miserable to be there. They definitely need more beach umbrellas as well. It seems that if you don’t get there by 9:00a.m. you are out of luck and you will have to fight for tree shade.

San Juan

Always getting jipped time-wise with Puerto Rico. I always love Puerto Rico. Not only because I am Nuyorican but I love walking around so much history. And the views from the Ports are out of this world. We get in at 8:00a.m. but have to be on the ship by 1:30p.m. This is simply not enough time to explore. You feel rushed.

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

I stood at the Hampton Inn Ft. Lauderdale/Plantation which I recommend highly because they have 2 shopping center within reasonable walking distance and they have a TARGET nearby as well.
