We chose this cruise due to the itinerary. My wife and I have cruised on Carnival about 10 times, this was our 7 year old son's third cruise and 2nd for our 4 year old. We also had our adult daughter and her 18 month old daughter with us. Carnival has been our go to get away/vacation and we have been very happy with all our past cruises; we live in Florida so it is very convenient.

The ship is old, we knew that going in, but the ship is not in bad shape, for it's age it is actually nice. The issue we had was with the crew, by far the worst service we have received on a cruise. I would describe them as stand offish for the first three days at least, sort of like the feeling you get in Home Depot when you have a question and employees seem to disappear. One ship issue is the cabin for 4 means you get a 4 inch high cot that goes on the floor but you get charged full price; new ships have full cots or sofa fold out.

We did have one excellent server at dinner one night and Juan at service desk did good job addressing our complaints but it took a while to get to him. Initial response to us was "you booked with travel agent we can't/won't help you".

Port Reviews

St. Thomas

My wife's friend picked us up at port and we spent the day at Coki Point. Beach has chairs, snorkel rentals, restaurant and about 15 minutes from port.

Barbados

Worst stop on the trip. Before cabbing to Rockly beach, $5 per person each way, we tried to find Temple Market, but no vendors out and told that is not unusual. We walked around town and got lunch from local restaurant. Beach is ok. In general expensive and not much to see.

St. Maarten

Had great lunch a few blocks from end of pier Phillipsburg; first ferry stop from cruise port. Swam at beach near pier.
