Nieuw Amsterdam Cruise Review by fsdj1097
- Sail Date: June 2017
- Destination: Alaska
- Cabin Type: Deluxe Ocean-View Verandah Stateroom
The Neptune Lounge concierges, Roses and Lalaine were incredible, making little tweaks here and there, assisting in some MDR issues that were caused by some corporate snafus.
We had some first-time cruisers aboard with us and they were totally blown away by the caring, attentive crew. They are HAL fans, big time, now!
Nieuw Amsterdam was in fine shape and well maintained while we were aboard. There was a very large group onboard (over 1,000 by their estimate), but aside from the MDR issues (again caused by inaccurate information provided by corporate to the Matre'd), we really weren't impacted by them. I'll also add that the shore staff made embarkation seamless. We were literally in our Neptune Suite by 11:30AM!
Alaska, was, well Alaska! Beautiful and awe inspiring. The Inside Passage route is our favorite sailing to the Great Land. We booked our shore excursions directly with the tour vendors and showed the first timers some of our favorite things.
We will certainly return to Alaska, and wouldn't hesitate to sail Nieuw Amsterdam again.
