This cruise was to celebrate a 30 year wedding anniversary of close family members. Overall, the food was very good in every part of the ship. The ship was clean and there is a definite focus on preventing the spread of virus and other bugs spread by the hands. "Washy Washy, Happy Happy" will stay in my vocabulary for a very long time. Our cruise started and ended in Rome. We have been in Europe before and had visited several of towns before. In order: Rome, Florence, Cannes, Palma Mallorca, Barcelona, Naples, Rome. I want to be clear and fair in my review, NCL Epic was fun and, for the most part, the staff was very nice and available during events on board. The entertainment far exceeded my expectations and it was clear that the leadership on board cared a great deal for the safety and well being of its customers. Here are the things I think you should consider as it related to some finer points:
1. Both shore excursions we took started and ended with the NCL Excurion Contractor trying to sell something to you through a third party. It really spoiled both of the tours we took. Left me feeling more like cattle than someone genuinely interested in exploring our target of interest. I think NCL should make a point to declare this part of the torus uo front.
2. The English spoken by our tour guide in Pompeii was very challenging for me. The tour operator provided a headset and headphones, which proved to be useless as they were super cheap. NCL should recommend to its customers to take higher end head phone on these tours. I did not hear 95% of what was spoken during the tour. Thankfully, the Pompeii exhibit visited our town last month and I learned so much more there,
Was very clean and comfortable. We did stay in a room with Disabled access/service. This proved challenging as we locked our selves out twice by simply bumping a button by the cloths valet. It was a minor inconvenience compared to the additional space we gained.
Rome is Rome. Vatican and Basillica.
Pretty basic seaside town. Good food and wine.
