We first flew into Rome and spent 3 days touring the city. This is a must. Absolutely loved Rome. Having never been on a cruise before we were not sure what to expect. Checking into the ship was a breeze and so well organized. This took us approximately 15 mins. We were soon up on the top deck with a drink in our hands leaving the luggage to be taken to our room later. The ship was magnificent and the cabin - and especially the bathroom - much more spacious then I ever expected. Now i will clarify that we had a room with a balcony so it was more expensive. The staff was extremely friendly and always around so you never had to go looking for someone to help you. The dining was amazing. The ship will try to sell you packages to specialty restaurants but it is totally unnecessary. The food in the Opus dining room was delicious - again, beyond expectations. The buffet was a standard buffet but had many, many options, was clean, hot and always full. The entertainment was a bit of a letdown. They had only one act that was shown twice in the evening in a theater. I was only blown away by one of the acts - the Tenors of Rock. There were many small bands and vocals throughout the day that were nice. But the reason we went were for the stops. The ports that were chosen in Italy and Greece were the best. We did not take the ship's excursions as we wanted to go with four of us instead of a busload. But anytime that we did have to disembark and embark was done smoothly and efficiently. My only complaint during the cruise was on days at sea. There were not enough seats available outside for everyone and the pool was way too small for all of the people.
Spent 3 days before the cruise touring Rome on our own. Loved it!!!!!
Drove into Taormina - it was nice.
The Blue Grotto is not to be missed. So beautiful!!!!! The rest of the town was nice to see too.
Nice walking the beach and sitting at a cafe.
We took a taxi to the other side of the island where there was less wind and way fewer people. Totally worth it.
Great seeing the Old Town and walking through all of the shops.
The Acropolis is amazing and should not be missed, but we were not that impressed with Athens overall. Could have missed it.
Quite a drive to get to but beautiful to see.
Pompeii blew us away. It was way more than ever expected and a total must see.
Loved Sorrento. I could see going back here and spending a week.
