Celebrity Constellation Cruise Review by suenneil
- Sail Date: June 2017
- Destination: Eastern Mediterranean
- Cabin Type: Deluxe Ocean View with Balcony 2A
We did not manage last years cruise as it was fully booked so we were determined to secure a midships balcony cabin in June this year.
The ship has just been in for a refit so we were looking forward to the changes having previously sailed on Constellation in April. We were underwhelmed by the changes that appear to have taken place most of which appear to have been electronic changes behind the scenes. The cabin had entry card changed for the better and apart from a new shower tray, nothing else, some of the furniture was looking tired. No surprises that the suites had a major overhall.
Ocean View café has had a few changes to modernise the area and so have the deck 5 shops. This area made much brighter.
There are also changes to Deck 12 Aft with new seating and large screen tv area being created, however this area does need its own bar to make it complete.
They have removed Ocean Liners and replaced with Qusine which was not for us.
We have problems with the MDR each evening and 2 nights waited for an hour for a table for 2. One of these occasions I did go back to the desk and was thanked for waiting even though the pager had not gone off and stated that how could they tell people that they would only be waiting for 20 minutes max when I had waited for an hour. We were then lead into the dining room with great apologies, walked past 2 empty tables for 2 and given a window seat. Other nights having waited to be seated for 20-30 minutes only to be told by people on adjacent tables that no-one had been sat where we were seated at all.
We witness a table being reset and called as free 3 times and still took an hour for someone to be allocated it.
There is obviously a serious disconnect between front of house and the Area Managers. Waiters told us they were waiting for customers and were fed up of complaining. This is the only time we have experienced this with Celebrity but it did cause us and others to not be satisfied. Our 2 previous cruises with Constellation this year we had no problems at all and the only difference - the Hostess.
The ports were beautiful and exceeded our expectations, we did 3 trips with the ship, Krka National Park in Zadar, Saloma (disappointing ruins) and Trogir well worth the visit in Split and Budva in Kotor followed by a walk around Kotor town when we returned to the ship..
The crew as usual were helpful and friendly, waiters and bar staff excellent,
Don't expect any priorty boarding in Venice as the ground staff there do not recognise loyalty, we were kept waiting for over an hour before we decided to jump their queue. Once you get into the hall to check in, normal service resumed and we were speedily on the ship.
We are now looking for a further cruise with Celebrity.
250,000+ people have entered their email
That said this cabin was in the perfect posiion in the middle of the ship and we will be looking for it on any further cruises on Millenium Class ships.

VeniceThis was our embarkation port and we flew in that day. However the ground staff were appalling, they did not and would not recognise Celebritys loyalty guests. We were given letters and told to wait in a rather hot room, Having waited for nearly and hour and still half the alphabet to go, we jumped the queue and once in the check-in area normal loyalty queues took place and we waited for 3 minutes and then checked in and boarded the ship.View All 1,462 Venice Cruise Port Reviews

The air is clean and clear, and we were taken on a walk through the woods and viewed large waterfalls and crystal clear pools filled with trout, Someone pointed out a snake basking and spotted frogs also. This is well worth a visit.
