My husband and I just got back from a 7 day Alaska cruise on the Ruby. As someone who grew up cruising, I was very much looking forward to experiencing it in a different stage of life.
Starting at the beginning, I thought embarkation was flawless. We had a later check in time and arrived a little earlier than suggested (around 1:30) and found that we were able to get on the ship quickly without a hitch (probably took about 20 minutes, which is not as easy as I had remembered it being in the past.)
Cabin: We met our room steward, Ed, immediately upon arrival to our room. He was probably one of the highlights of the actual cruise, as he immediately knew us by name and continually referred to us by name and a friendly greeting every time he saw us, just as he did with all of his other passengers. Our cabin was an interior and par for the course for cruise cabins. The bed was super comfortable. Room temperature felt a little stuffy at times, even though we had it set on the coolest temperature. My biggest regret is not having splurged on a balcony cabin for this cruise.
Great room steward, typical interior cabin. Bed was very comfortable.
Breathtaking scenery!
This is the best place to get souvenirs and goods from local artists and sellers. Creek Street was really cool. Felt like we didn't have enough time here.
Victoria itself was beautiful, but this was another port where we hardly had enough time. Also, by the time our ship docked (7pm) most of the local shops had already closed.
