Radiance of the Seas Cruise Review by HicksRA
- Sail Date: June 2017
- Destination: Alaska
Thus the booking of this southbound cruise starting in Seward on June 9-16, 2017. Although the weather was cloudy and rainy most of the time, we still got to see most of the beautiful scenery and enjoy a wonderful time on the Radiance of the Seas.
The Cruise Director was an awesome entertainer and kept the joint jumping every night.
The ship was beautiful, the shows were all very good and the food was good as well.
The Windjammer was a constant traffic jam and seating was scarce.
We found all crew members to be polite, efficient and very accommodating from guest services to our room steward.
All in all, this was a very enjoyable cruise and we plan on doing it again in a few years.

My biggest complaint is about the noise from above. The room is located under the Windjammer/Izumi area and there were frequent noises of rolling heavy carts that sounded like a 747 taking off 50 feet above your house and other banging that sounded like two skeletons wrestling on a tin roof. We did get used to it and had no real trouble sleeping.
Otherwise, we loved the room, the view and spaciousness it provided.

Icy StraitNo excursions here, but just a short walk off the ship to the tourist area. Beautiful place with food and shops. After seeing the awesome zip line, we wished we'd booked it, but it was too late.View All 281 Icy Strait Cruise Port Reviews

Mendenhall GlacierWe took a bus ride to Mendenhall Glacier where alongside the glacier is a huge waterfall of melting ice. You can walk down a path which is about 3/4 mile right up to the falls. It's a beautiful sight.View All 777 Mendenhall Glacier Reviews
We then went on to a Salmon Hatchery which was fairly interesting.
City TourThe bus took a short drive through town. About as exciting as a taxi ride from point a to point b.View All 53 City Tour Reviews
Potlatch ParkThe Potlatch Park was definitely just a contrived park for tourists. Fairly interesting, but overall, I'd give it a "meh". The historic city tour was one quick drive through the city streets of Ketchikan. I'd recommend saving your money and bypassing this one.View All 19 Potlatch Park Reviews
I really enjoyed the town though and especially the huge Tongass store with lots of stuff and very good prices compared to most tourist shops.
Scenic DriveTook a bus ride over White Pass and then to Gold Rush Cemetery and Nugget Falls.View All 100 Scenic Drive Reviews
Nice history and the falls was just a short walk from cemetery.
