My wife and I booked an April 30th 16 day transatlantic cruise not because of the company (NCL) but for the ports that we wanted to and were supposed to visit.
First issue was cleanliness of the room. My wife returned to the room to pick up her e-reader and witnessed the room steward washing the bathroom floor, toilet, shower, basin and room tops with the hand towel we had used and than cleaned out our coffee cups with the same white hand towel. When she saw him doing this in the bathroom she went out on the balcony where he did not see her watching him and that was when she saw him clean the coffee mugs, tray and desktop. We reported this and asked for it to be dealt with anonymously. Did not happen, when we returned to the room we were met by three officers and introduced to a new room steward. He was from the same country as the previous one and we saw them chatting in the hallway that evening. Do you think they would not be talking about this, so much for anonymously handling the issue. We are disgusted with this and refused to use any glasses or cups for the duration of the cruise. Can you imagine drinking out of glasses and cups that were cleaned out with the same cloth as the toilet was cleaned with – it honestly made me want to vomit. The next night we had 5 chocolate covered strawberries delivered to our room – that was suppose to make us happy and content? We were told not to speak to other passengers about what had happened.
We also booked the Baltics cruise back-to-back with a similar incident with dirty glasses in our room with toothpaste and water still left in the glasses in our bathroom and lipstick on one in our room. We were promised that this would not happen again after it happened the first time - so much for trusting in NCL senior staff.
