I was just coming off of a grueling 6 weeks of 72-hour work weeks and needed some relaxation, we decided a cruise to Bermuda on the Norwegian Breakaway was just the thing. We booked several months in advance, the weather reports as we approached embarkation day just kept getting worse... The embarkation day was cold and rainy but went pretty smoothly. We flew in on Jet Blue to JFK and caught a cab (standard fee $52 + tolls) which cost us about $70 with tip and got us right to the entrance of the cruise terminal, where our checked bags were taken and delivered to our room later that evening. Our check in was pretty efficient, about 15 minutes of standing in lines had us onboard and up to our room, cabin 8118 with a large balcony (about twice as big as a standard balcony) Our room steward was friendly and welcoming, as well as efficient. The room was clean and ready for us, the room air conditioning seemed too cold even on the warmest setting, but other than that it was comfortable with adequate storage/closet space. We love the showers with multiple spray nozzles to get all the right places clean, good water pressure and temperature control. The weather was a little rough coming out of New York with high winds, there was a banging coming from a loose divider on the balcony above us, we notified guest services and it was repaired before we got back from supper.. very quick response.

We had a dining package and visited Cagney's steakhouse and were not disappointed, the steaks (fillet mignon) were cooked to perfection, tender and tasty, the Cagney truffle parmesan fries were amazingly awesome. We had a good time at the Cruise Critic Roll Call "Meet n' Greet" on day two along with a fun but not profitable "slot pull" at the casino. Our first couple days were rainy as predicted, but when we got to Bermuda the weather turned beautiful. We enjoyed being on the port side of the ship last time in Bermuda, overlooking the National Museum of Bermuda this time the ship was reverse with the port side facing outward, our initial disappointment turned to joy as we discovered we had an excellent view of the America's Cup Challenge races, right off of our balcony! We hopped on the tram (free) that travels around the Royal Naval Dockyard and it took us to the America's Cup Village where a group of youngsters boarded the tram, it turns out these youngsters were the crew of the New Zealand America's Cup racing boat (eventual winners of the right to challenge the defenders) heading to the Frog and Onion for a quick lunch, a very nice group of young men (Olympic class athletes who were very personable and friendly) We enjoyed both the "Glow" party and the 80's dance party at Spice H2O onboard, even though we're not really dancers, all in all, it was a wonderful vacation, just what the doctor ordered!

Cabin M6

We were in cabin 8118 with a large balcony (about twice as big as a standard balcony) Our room steward was friendly and welcoming, as well as efficient. The room was clean and ready for us, the room air conditioning seemed too cold even on the warmest setting, but other than that it was comfortable with adequate storage/closet space. We love the showers with multiple spray nozzles to get all the right places clean, good water pressure and temperature control. We spent most of our time out on the balcony enjoying the view, the sun, and the breeze.
