The way in which people rave about NCL, I expected more.....

We wanted to give NCL a try as friends had good experiences on other NCL cruises that left NYC. We had been to two of the three stops before so we opted for this getaway to compare the experiences with other cruise lines. I realize I went on an older boat but there were several large differences between Norwegian and other cruise lines:

Stateroom: I have been in different size rooms on different cruise lines and this was by far the tiniest inside room I have been in. I must have banged my body on every part of that room. This was a complaint of most people we spoke with on the boat. The bathroom was the most uncomfortable as the positioning of the toilet to the wall allowed no space for my legs. We were missing a bath mat for all but one day of the cruise. Not sure if bath robes are customary as they were in other cruise lines but we never saw any. Stateroom steward was friendly. We didn't have our room made up too many times during the cruise but the one time we did allow turn down service, the towel animal we got was a mouse peeking out of the covers..... if I was not familiar with towel animals I would have jumped out of my skin.
