We spent two days in Copenhagen pre-cruise making use of the Copenhagen Card which proved good value. We were able to use this card to get the no. 25 bus from Norreport direct to the Terminal at Ocean Kaj. We arrived around 11.15 and were on board by 11.45 – very relaxed and well controlled all through.

Norwegian Getaway is a large ship. This was our fifth NCL cruise, and tenth in total, and in hindsight our most enjoyable. We have sailed on Epic and found Getaway to be much better arranged. However many decks there may be on a cruise ship, most time will be spent on just four – in this case – 6,7 & 8 and 15. Our cabin was on deck 11 aft and it entailed plenty of walking to keep the weight down!! There are only two lift areas but with 8 available at each we never had any significant wait.

Our preference is for the buffet rather than formal dining and Getaway has improved the food choice since our last NCL cruise. Good selections at all meals and much more seafood than previously. Because of the ethnic mix there were always Indian and Chinese selections available. Steaks and roast meats were delicious. Our only criticism would be that vegetables were usually significantly undercooked and sometimes hard.

Well laid out and clean. Bathroom format was good.

Copenhagen

We stayed here before and after the cruise. A great city with so much to see. Most sites are within walking distance. The canal boat tour was well worthwhile early in our visit to set the scene. Watch out for cyclists everywhere!!
