We sailed Northbound out of Vancouver, BC on Radiance on June 2nd with stops in Ketchikan, Icy Strait Point, Juneau, Skagway, and a sea day that included the Hubbard Glacier. We also took a cruisetour (1A) post cruise, which I'll review a bit later.

Pre-cruise in Vancover:

We chose to fly into Seattle from Boston, rent a car and drive to Vancouver. It was a lovely drive. We spent a day and a half there visiting the Capilano Suspension Bridge Park (gorgeous, make time to see it if you can) and Stanley Park. We also checked out Canada Place and saw Fly Over Canada (if you've been to Disney, it's Soarin' with a Canadian theme and quite good). There we also watched sail away for the ships leaving the day before ours and grabbed a bite to eat at the "mall" across the way.

Cabin Review

Junior Suite

Cabin JS

We were in stateroom 1580, on deck 10, sort of mid aft third of the ship. This section was mostly suites.

Our room was quite beautiful and spacious as staterooms go and is the most beautiful Jr. Suite we've stayed in so far. We understand the rooms were renovated just a few years ago, and it was a definite improvement.

You also get double Crown and Anchor points for suites, and they are a bit more expensive than balconies, but cheaper than two cruises in a lower category cabin, and cruise tour days count, so we'll be jumping from Platinum to Emerald on this cruise!

In addition to the king bed configuration, we had a sofa that was a sofa bed, an easy chair and ottoman with a side table, and an oval coffee table with two "dinner" chairs that were padded. There was ample floor space, several storage drawers and cabinets as well as a very spacious walk in closet with shelving and hooks. We tend to store our luggage under the bed to keep it out of the way, which also saves space.

The bathroom was also spacious by cruise ship standards, especially for just the two of us, with a real tub, although it was somewhat elevated and would be a challenge for anyone over 5'11" to stand up in without hitting their head. Every time I washed my hair I'd hit my hands on the ceiling (I'm 5' 8").

The balcony was smaller than they typically are on bigger ships and a bit cramped for the furniture they provided which was two chairs and a bistro table and one thickly padded lounge chair. Still, we did sit out there for a bit the first day we sailed away, and we positioned the chairs toward the window on colder days for the same view, but without the wind chill. You could tell she needed a bit of cosmetic work (paint touch up, cleaning of the balcony glass partitions), but it didn't bother us.

My husband had ordered the Happy Anniversary decorations for us and they were there to adorn our room when we entered. We were able to access our cabins at 1 pm and our luggage arrived around 2 pm. Our room attendant was lovely and attentive.

As Jr. Suite and platinum guests, we had two plush terry bathrobes from RC to use for the duration of our cruise, which is a nice perk.

If you can afford it, especially if you are in the loyalty program, we definitely recommend this room category.
