We wanted to go to Alaska at some point, and saw a pretty good deal so we decided to go with it, despite some reservations about going in May.
We were satisfied overall with our cruise, understanding that Holland America is considerably less expensive than the cruises we have taken in the past, and as such had to make some concessions to that fact.
Ship: Noordam was fine. The ship was larger than we were used to at 1900 or so passengers, but not mega large. The public rooms were very good, there were lots of places to sit and read, the bars were good, the pool area was outstanding, and I loved the sliding cover that enabled the pool space to be used even when it was cold or rainy. The condition of the ship was fine, and it was very clean....no real issues with the ship.
Our cabin was at the stern of the ship, and because of this is was a little narrower than the other balcony cabins, but it had a significantly larger balcony, with a small chaise lounge, a chair and a table. Also consistently good views, and facing south on a northbound ship there was plenty of sunshine.
Cabin was ok....decent room, sufficient storage, bags fit under bed, decent decor, slightly dated bathroom with a tiny tub/shower....
