After not cruising for a few years we decided to do a stay and cruise with Thomson, which included a stay in Croatia which was also a factor. It was also an adults only cruise. I knew that the Spirit was an old ship but that did not put me off as all the reviews looked very promising. We were not disappointed. The ship is tired but the staff, service, food and entertainment make up for that fact. We had a fabulous time and on chatting to fellow cruisers we were not on our own. The experience from being picked up from our hotel to arriving back home was a pleasure. The embarkation and disembarkation of the ship was flawless and I cannot praise Thomson enough for this. The staff were fabulous and in my mind could teach others a thing or two. Nothing was too much trouble and they always had a smile. The food was excellent and is now the cause of me going on a very strict diet! The ship was immaculate and as clean as could be. Watching a guy in High Spirits one evening polish a glass table, using a torch so he could make sure there were no smears on it was amazing. The ports of call were varied but the highlight was Venice, especially the sail away. We didn't book any excursions and did our own thing at each port. I can honestly say I have not enjoyed a holiday so much in a long time and I will not leave it so long before I cruise again, and it will be with Thomson.
