Family of 3 celebrating our son's college graduation. Stateroom 4143. Our 3rd cruise with HAL, our 26th cruise overall. We chose this cruise for the itinerary of Northern Europe. The first 2 weeks were very fast paced as we were in port almost daily. Our stateroom was comfortable modern and state of the art. It was quiet, cozy, and did not rock and roll although I should mention we had exceptionally calm seas It looked felt new; I will never book an old tub again. Amazingly all 3 adults had enough room storage and were comfortable in our veranda state room. Although it was a partially obstructed balcony view, it suited our needs we had wonderful views and did not use the balcony much as it was a tad chilly. Anytime Dining started off a bit rough and seemed disorganized. Getting refills on any beverage other than wine like water seemed impossible. We resolved this issue by finding a table and waitstaff we liked(after 6 nights) and making 5:30pm reservations for the remaining of the cruise. Once we dined early with an organized dining manager things went better. We were impressed with the Lido, and liked the "station" method of service vs an open buffet for sanitary reasons. Food was very good not outstanding My husbands food allergy Gluten was well managed. We did not pay extra for specialty dining, as it was not important to us, however we were surprised to see how packed these upcharge and the full priced Bistro were each evening. Either people have lots of money or lots of ship board credit. We did enjoy the Specialty coffees and Happy Hours. Entertainment was much better than our previous HAL cruises, albeit short shows. We really enjoyed the BB King band and English gentlemans shore discussions and wish HAL had taped these and made available in State Room TV. We really enjoy the HAL Crows Nest however this ship has removed the traditional library and feels much more modern, which was disappointing for the HAL Crows nest. Our favorite new improvement to the vessel was the stage, with the lighting LED background it is quite spectacular. We planned all of our shore excursions on our own, or booked excursions through Viatour / TripAdvisor you will save money and have a much smaller group than booking through the cruise line. One surprising negative this grand new ship does not offer any self laundry. Other HAL ships and every other cruise we have taken does. 3 weeks at sea so we had to pack more than we normally would have. I do not like to send out my laundry so I just do not understand what they were thinking when designing this ship. Overall we had a wonderful time and would recommend this ship and European journey itinerary ports of call
