We celebrated our 45th anniversary by going on a cruise on the Norwegian Escape to Honduras, Belize & Mexico. Since we have gone on about 6 other cruises on Norwegian, we are considered gold status and received a bottle of sparkling wine in our stateroom (Also a party). We happened to mention to officers on the ship that it was our 45th anniversary and they immediately asked for our room number. They were very generous (Wine, chocolate covered strawberries and a cake). Everyone on the ship was incredibly nice and couldn't do enough. Cruising makes me feel like a queen...The waiters laid my napkin in my lap, continually asked if there is anything else they can do for us and happily got us whatever we wanted. The shows were great and there was music all over the ship in the evening. The stateroom was a little small (But still comfortable) and it was wonderful sitting out on our balcony in the morning. It felt like we were the only ones on the ship.
We went on 4 excursions. The first was a bus tour in Honduras. It was very comfortable and informative. The second was a 1-1.2 hour boat ride in Belize to see manatees. Since they do not jump out of the water like dolphins, all we saw was the roll of a back or a tip of a nose from about 50 feet away. We spent the afternoon in the ocean...It was like bath water and not too many waves... Heavenly! The next 2 days were spent at Mexican Mayan ruins (Costa Maya and Cozumel). We made a huge mistake in forgetting that we are no longer 20 years old. It was only the beginning of June, but oppressively hot & humid. I was dripping sweat. The tour directors on each tour tried to sell us stuff on the bus (Taking a lot of time away from hearing about the Mayans). Since we were a captive audience on the bus, it made me feel uncomfortable. I tried to not let it affect the wonderful time we had on the cruise. All in all it was a terrific week.
