Wanted a cruise to Alaska and received a call from a Cruise Consultant shortly after deciding on an Alaska cruise. Should have checked out reviews prior to booking with Norwegian. Food was average to mediocre - only good dinner was at the Brazilian Steakhouse - insufficient eating establishments - the one Buffet was too crowded and food was basically the same every day. Main dining rooms were too slow - took 2 hours for dinner. Insufficient entertainment on the ship. Far too many announcements promoting us to "purchase another cruise" I wanted to raise my hand & tell someone - "Entertain me on this one instead of trying to get me to 'book yet another one!'" All I remember is the many, many announcements on the speaker promoting "Buying Expensive Jewelry & booking another cruise!" Far too many long lines and inefficient crowd control in dropping off luggage & getting on the ship. Complete havoc in Stardust Theater for the hundreds of people gathered there for the first excursion. No coordination at all - resulting in my canceling one future excursion. The havoc made our tour 2 hours late in returning back to the ship. Kept one excursion in the middle of the day - but staff was not prepared to get excursions off the ship shortly after docking. People standing in aisles etc. Far too close quarters. Even though I told the Cruise Consultant my husband was on a Special diet and needed some handicap assistance - none were provided Resulting in him eating too much salt and is now in the hospital for water retention caused from too much salt. Was extremely, extremely difficult getting any kind of special diet or wheelchair assistance. Did enjoy cruising Glacier Bay and would have really enjoyed the meal at the Brazilian Steakhouse - except the dietician selected this time to talk with me about a special diet for my husband instead of letting me eat. She did not tell me the correct procedure for his meals - it was only 2 days before finishing the cruise that I was told to check with Reservations the day before for his food the next day. Note: We were a group of 9 family members and 7 of us would never cruise with Norwegian again.
