We have cruised on Celebrity several times and this was our second cruise on the Eclipse. We travelled with friends who has never cruised before but were attracted by this interesting itinerary which included 3 Days in St Petersburg. We had an amazing time, the staff were so friendly, the food was exceptional (Luminae and Ocean View Café) and the ports were so interesting. The only big disappointment was the entertainment which was definitely below par especially comparing it with the experience we had 2 years ago when Sue Denning and her team made our cruise so enjoyable. The Cruise director on this cruise was hardly ever around and the shows and guest performers were average at best. The ports we visited were excellent though. Highlights included the stunning sail in to Stockholm which was worth getting up for, 3 day tour in St Petersburg where we joined others from Cruise Critic on a small group tour with SPB tours (highly recommended), and captivating Copenhagen with a lovely harbour walk to the city from the ship (no need to take a transfer here). All the other stops were great too and although the weather on a couple of sea days was a little cold and miserable, the sun shone at all the ports we visited. We had a Sky Suite Cabin located on the 12th floor. a brilliant choice, loved the position and our Butler Nelson was very friendly.

Sky Suite 1

Cabin S1

Very spacious cabin and balcony. Lovely bathroom with excellent walk in shower. There is a large overhang on the balcony and it was shady. For this cruise it may have been better to be on the port side to get a little more sun but we did not take the cruise to sun bathe!!

Port Reviews

Brugge (Bruges)

We got off the boat early as we only had a few hours in port. We walked out of the gates and took a taxi to Brugges (50 euros) if you can get a group together this would make it a very economical way to get to the city as they take up to 6 passengers (same price). The journey is about 30-40 mins. The city of Brugges is beautiful and well worth a visit. We visited several sights and churches, took a canal boat ride and then returned to the ship, this time sharing a taxi (we had arranged to meet our taxi driver at 1.30pm to get back to the ship)

Stockholm

Took the Celebrity shuttle ($14 PP) to the centre of town. You probably could walk. We then walked to the Vasa Museum which was very interesting and then walked back to the Old City. Finally returned to the ship.

Tallinn

Beautiful Old City which was easily walkable from the ships dock. Tallin is a World Heritage Site and the builidings have been well restored and looked after. We wandered through the town and had coffee and cake at the 'oldest tea shop in Tallin' Also we walked to the high point that overlooked Tallin then walked part of the restored city walls.

Berlin

We docked in Warnemunde. An easy walk into this beautiful town. Well worth getting off the ship for. Extremely well maintained and has a good port shop/cafe. We walked down to the beach and had a delicious ice cream.

Copenhagen

The wonderful sunshine made this extremely attractive city even more beautiful. It was a lovely harbour walk to the centre. We took a canal boat ride which was a lovely way to explore the sites and very good value.
