Booked this cruise October 2015, decided to get a Haven Spa Suite. This was our first NCL experience, we've only sailed DCL in the past!! To be truthfully honest with all of you that read these reviews, I was a little nervous!! There is quite a few negative reviews about this ship!! To put your mind at ease, the ship was beautiful, the crew was outstanding, the food was amazing compared to the other cruiseline I've sailed!! I suffer from celiac disease and food could be a huge problem for me. I called, and emailed NCL before before I even got onboard!! The precruise concierge put my mind at ease by sending me a list of all the gluten free items, including food items, spices, sauces and goodies they offer along with tips that I should take care of onboard. All the dining staff were super helpful on how to help me navigate the menu and what items they could make gluten free. They even went as far as bringing me items from other restaurants/specialty restaurants to complete my meal (aka: the cheese rolls from Moderno). When we arrived to port we checked in at the Haven check in area, a short wait later we were taken to another holding area and then straight to the Haven lounge. After a short welcome by the concierge we decided to go to Margaritaville for lunch since it was free for Haven guests the first day, it was very good but a lot of food.....toooooo much for us to finish. Our luggage was outside our stateroom door when we returned from lunch, fastest delivery of our luggage I've ever seen....pleasantly surprised. We quickly unpacked and explored the ship. The ship itself is big and beautiful. We went to the H2O for the sail away party instead of the main pool area, sooooooo glad we decided to do this because there were very few people there, plenty of seats and the bar wasn't toooooo crazy!! After the sail away party we went to Food Republic for dinner, the first night Haven guests get 50% off, soooooooo glad we went here, we were practically the only people in there and the food was amazing!! After dinner we went to the Spa, only a couple other couples in there enjoying the amenities. The only issue we had was the gift of vomit in the steam room left probably from a drunk guest that couldn't hold their alcohol. We let the staff know and they immediately came in to clean it up. The next day was a sea day and we had rainy weather, a inside day of casino, shopping and hanging out by the Haven covered pool for us, not sure if we just picked the right times to roam but I never felt crowded (our sailing was a sold out ship) so this kinda surprised us as well!! Our dinner that evening was in the Haven restaurant, we both ordered the Prime Rib, when it came out it was almost as large as our dinner plate!! After dinner went back to our room and watched a movie. So I haven't even got to Jorge our butler, impeccable service and genuinely a nice guy, ANYTHING we wanted or needed, he took care of it. Every morning he brought us French-press coffee to our room to enjoy while we got ready for our day. 3rd day was Routan, since it was my husbands birthday, we decided to get breakfast in bed, couples massage, looked around the tiny town (not my favorite port), bought a few items and then back on the ship for lunch on the outside patio of the Haven restaurant, water slides, ropes course (port days are the BEST days to take advantage of these amenities, very few people/no lines.....very enjoyable). Earlier in the day we did ask Jorge for a iron so we could iron what we were going to wear for dinner that evening, laid everything out and when we returned, our items were pressed and ready to wear. We went for dinner at Cagney's and again the food was amazing (try the garlic truffle mashed potatoes......yummmmm). After dinner went to see After Midnight, great show. 4th day was Harvest Caye, NCL has really outdone themselves on this port, beautiful. We rented the electric float boat and also needed to be rescued because our boat went dead in the water half was through and needed to be towed back to the rental area, Kinda funny. Lunch in port was a little bit of a issue, long story short, we ordered lunch, 2 drinks ($65 not including tip) I asked for 1 basic glass of water and they told me that they couldn't get me a glass of water, I had to pay for a bottle of water. I did pay for the water but wasn't happy about it because you shouldn't have to pay for a glass of water since you are already paying for food and drinks, I'd understand if I was just asking for water. We had a fantastic day here, we are on vacation, nothing will spoil having a fabulous time, very low in priority. Back to the ship and on to dinner at the Haven restaurant, then to the Spa and after the spa on to Howl at the Moon, hands down one of the highlights. 6th day Costa Maya, another fun port we went to Maya Chan, awesome!! On and on, we had a fabulous time, no issues!! My advice to the people that read these reviews, someone else's bad experience doesn't have to be yours!! The crew on this ship work very hard and love when you stop them just to see how their day is going, where they are from (they really perk up and want to talk to you about their family that they are missing very much) be kind!! This is just not your vacation but 4200 other guests!! Have a great time and enjoy your cruise......YOU are on vacation people, no reason to be angry, nasty to one another!! Lol just saying this because there was a fight on our sailing!! Relax and have fun!!
