We chose to cruise on Viking because of our dear friends' recommendation. They had a wonderful experience, and since we share common interests and values, we thought we would as well. We chose wisely. This voyage on the Viking Gefjon was the trip of a lifetime. From the moment the Viking staff met us at Budapest airport, everything was delivered with excellence and friendliness. Our stateroom was beautiful and spacious enough to afford plenty of storage and comfort. The steward who cleaned our room several times a day was so efficient and helpful, it was hard to say, "Goodbye," to him on our last day. The staff on the Viking Gefjon led by our program director, Sam, is unmatched I am sure. There was a chemistry among the staff that spilled on over to the guests; we all had a golden time together. The food was delicious and varied. There was always a choice of eating either in the terrace restaurant or the dining room - and sometimes it was hard to choose, both were such lovely settings with great food. The shore excursions were handled in such an organized manner. It was impressive. Each of the guides knew so much history and were so proficient in English. They were passionate about their villages and towns and countries. We learned so much history from all of them. The on board entertainment was lovely; there was always something to do. Watching the beautiful European countryside go by from the sun deck was a highlight for me, but it was also fun and relaxing sitting on our veranda as well.
As soon as we arrived back home, we started dreaming of our next Viking cruise. I am excited to travel again, but this experience will be hard to beat. Thank you Viking Gefjon staff!
Our cabin was beautiful, it seemed brand new. It was spacious enough to be comfortable with plenty of storage. We loved our veranda and kept the sliding door open most of the time we were in our cabin. The bathroom was an efficient use of space. The shower worked perfectly as did all the other plumbing. Our steward was so attentive and friendly. Our room was always clean with plenty of towels, bottled water, and toiletries.
Our guide gave us great history and also gave excellent directions and tips for getting around on our own.
This was a difficult city to visit, but important.
Our guide was delightful and gave us so much history that we had missed in school.
The prince bishop's residence rivals Versailles! Our guide, Flo, was so knowledgeable.
We also went to Marksburg castle at this stop. Amazing experience!
Wish we could have stayed longer in this great city! Beautiful and so much to do!
