We chose this particular cruise because of the interesting itinerary and also because the timing was outside our cyclone season. The ship was in excellent condition for it's age. The crew was exceptional in all the areas we experienced. The quality of food. In both the Horizon and dining rooms was as we expected, average but not outstanding. The exception being our meal in the Steakhouse which was wonderful.
We had calm seas except for our homeward leg, two days between Honiara and Brisbane. Embarkation in Sydney was good with priority boarding, and disembarkation with a Princess transfer to the airport was equally as smooth.
We missed Kitava (tender port) due to strong winds, but instead we spent several hours at Garove Island where we sailed into the flooded volcano caldera through a narrow entrance. It was a magical and incredible experience.
This was a Guarantee stateroom allocation, located close to the midship stairs and elevators. Only one neighbour with an electrical room on one side. Plenty of storage. Water pressure could have been better, but there was plenty of hot water. Very comfortable beds and pillows. We would book this stateroom again.
We missed Kitava, but Kiriwina. We picked up a local guide on shore tand was shown around the school and village. She spoke good English and we learned a lot from her.
Booked an airport transfer fro. fisherman's Wharf, $AUD19 each.
