An excellent opportunity to visit Cuba for a those wanting an almost effortless way to get there on a well maintained older ship with excellent service. Sadly though the food was disappointing in both the buffets and dining room. With the exception of salad bars, hamburgers, hotdogs and french fries the food offered was often fancy unappealing offerings. Having basic servings of vegetables, strip steak and chicken breasts would have been a better choice for those with unsophisticated palates. The open bar feature did serve brand name beverages (Beer, Wine & Liquors) however for those who enjoy a beverage or two but of no benefit who do not drink alcoholic beverages. Soft drinks were also included. The cost of ship shore excursions were very expensive so I suggest you look online and hire private tours which in some cases half the price. We hired elected to do so and had excellent private tours of the Vinales Valley and Havana proper for about $250 CUC’s (Convertible Peso’s) which is the equivalent of $250 US. I also suggest you use the currency exchange bureau at the cruise terminal before heading out to tour. It is strongly suggested that you get small denominations ($1, 3, 5 & 10 bills) as we ran into difficulty using $20’s for small purchases. The people of Cuba are a proud and resilient bunch who tend to be very friendly and helpful...
Tipping: We elected to tip in hand with cash to those who provided excellent to us on board at time of service with the largest tip going to our cabin steward. We were also disappointed to hear from crew members that the gratuity charge levied by the cruise lines do not go to the employees as they are salaried!
Inside cabin, very clean and comfortable with an excellent cabin attendant.
Boarding was done with a reasonable processing wait time.
