We are 5 Star Mariners with HAL and have traveled with them over 600 days. Read many negative reviews and my expectation level was reduced.

We booked the Boston/Bermuda and Boston/New England segments. Boston is a great port city with lots to see and do. We a lanai room for the first time, which was a great choice. Was interesting seeing people walking by through the darkened window. The Veendam had the best berth in the center of Hamilton. Wonderful being small enough to go in. The larger ships are miles away in a remote section of the Island. Bermuda is very expensive, so going by ship is smart. For example, wine at the Fairmont Princess costs $17/glass.

We have anytime dining, so try to go on the early side to avoid waiting. The food in the MDR was fine. A good idea is to ask your waiter his recommendation. It is hard to believe that people complained about the food. The presentation was lovely and the food tasty.
