We used my wife's retirement bonus to take our children and grand children on a family cruise, before we are unable to travel in our later years. The embarkation went good for a change. The ship was not nearly as nice as I had been lead to believe. Two of the elevators did not work the entire cruise, our bathroom smelled like urine for the cruise, we were told this normal, which I know is not true, because our children's bathrooms did smell like that. There was lint and dust hanging out of the vent on the back of the door, our linen was not changed for the entire cruise. Our room steward was very nice, although not as attentive to the details that make a cruise enjoyable. The food on this cruise in the Chic dining room was substandard compared to the other ships we have cruised on. This was my fifth cruise in Carnival, not sure if there will be a sixth. The debarkation went much smoother on this cruise that any of our previous cruises, which was a relief, they seemed to be much more organized this time.
The cabin had lint and dirt hanging out of the vent in the back of the door, Our steward did not change our sheets the whole cruise. The bathroom had a terrible urine smell, we were told this is normal. I've cruised on other Carnival ships and never encountered this kind of thing before, so II do not believe this normal.
Galveston a nice port, have been there many times.
Not my choice for a safe port, too many people trying to get my grandchildren to buy drugs from them, We were told by ship personnel to stay away from various parts of town, wo we stayed mainly on the "hip strip". I don't believe we will ever travel to Jamacia again.
