We chose Harmony this time around because it was the biggest and one of the newest ships. We have always cruised only with Royal Caribbean so any comparisons made were to other RC ships. Our agenda for the week was to rest and relax since my husband and I were enjoying a kid free trip this time around. We took advantage of several onboard amenities that we normally don't when traveling with the kids.

Spa Services: I got 3 massages for the week and we also purchased the thermal suite package. My experience was very relaxing and the massage therapist was good. I did find how much they pushed selling their products and other services such as accupuncture off putting. It is a HARD SELL, which was irritating considering our spa bill alone was already over $600. I also thought it was a little deceptive they way their ran their receipts. Since I purchased a spa massage package I received discounts and they front loaded the charges and charged gratuity upfront for the entire package. I was not giving an itemized receipt for the package or total when I signed up. Then when I went in for each individual massage they had an individual receipt with no gratuity on it so naturally I added gratuity each of the 3 times. Come to find out at the end of the week when statement came that I had already been charged upfront, and ended up paying double gratuity. I really enjoyed all my spa treatments, but buyer beware.

Specialty Dining: We enjoyed 3 restaurants throughout the week. One lunchtime at Sabor, then dinner at Jamie's and Wonderland. When we booked ahead of time, we only purchased dinner at Wonderland, in retrospect it would have been cheaper to buy a dining package. Maybe if they had more online menu information before you board it would have been helpful. Sabor was good nothing bad, nothing that wowed our socks off (of course we are from Texas so our standards for Mexican food are pretty high). Wonderland was very disappointing in our opinion especially for the price you pay. This one of the meals I was looking forward to the most before we left for the trip. The main gripe I had was that we were not allowed to order for ourselves except for the main course. The server chose our other courses for us.... I am sorry but if I am dropping that much money on an extra dining experience I want to be able to choose my food. The food was whimsical but not necessarily good. The only thing that I enjoyed eating was a shrimp wrapped in nestlike philo dough dough and the ice cream sundae dessert (this was from trying all my husband courses too). I ordered the beef terroir for my main choice and it was like a piece of roast that had been sitting in a warming oven for hours. I can make better roast at home, and all the of main dishes in the Silk dining room surpassed the ones we had at Wonderland. On a bright note was the diner we had at Jamie's Italian by far the BEST meal of the entire week. The quality and flavors were superior and the service outstanding. We had the bread basket which was warm and fresh, then a decadent meat and cheese plank. I ordered Truffled Tagliatelle and my husband and special anchovied spaghetti. Even after we ordered the server brought us one extra entre and dessert for us to split, because they were so good we just had to try it in his opinion. The penne Carbonara he brought was exceptional. We also were able to sit outside on the Central Park patio and the weather was perfect. If you only go to one specialty restaurant on the ship go to Jamie's. In fact I might had gone a second night because there was so much on the menu that looked good that we couldn't fit it in one meal. In hind site we would have much rather tried Chops or Izumi instead of Wonderland.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D4

The cabin was very roomy and spacious compared to other cruises, the decor was up to date and stylish. We really appreciated the extra room designed into the bathroom aboard this ship. Everything was clean and we really liked having an in room fridge. We also liked the interactive TV feature where you could look at the restaurant menus. The only complaint we had was the bed. It was ROCK hard. I really don't remember any of the previous cruises where the bed was as uncomfortable as this one. All in all the bed comfort was the only negative we had regarding the cabin.
