We have sailed three times previously with Celebrity in Concierge Class, twice on The Reflection and once on The Eclipse and each time have been very impressed with every aspect of the cruise and it's wow factor. So much so that when we saw this two day Taste of Modern Luxury cruise from Southampton we booked for us, our daughter, her partner and two grandchildren to show them what cruising (their first cruise) and Celebrity was like. Unfortunately the wow factor was non existent on this cruise which was full of large groups of party goers whose idea was to drink as much as they could all day, especially around the pool area where we wanting to spend time with our grandchildren. The Jacuzzis also were full with people, drinks in hand who were obviously worse for wear with alcohol. We have never known anything like this on any previous Celebrity cruise although this was our shortest. It was almost impossible to get a drink at any bar without a long wait to be served and there was a noticeable absence of any bar waiters. Food though as always was excellent, however on our second night service in the Moonlight Sonata restaurant was incredibly slow. Our room attendant kept our room beautifully clean, but told our daughter (we had staterooms1204 and 1208 at the aft of the ship) her luggage had to be placed outside the room by 6.30 pm on Saturday night! We knew this should be 10pm as indeed it stated in the Celebrity Today paper, but he was most insistent. Also we purchased 'Extend Your Stay' tickets for $39. 95 per adult and $22 per child (plus tax) to enable us to remain on board instead of disembarking at 7.15 am until 90 mins before the ship sailed. Please Celebrity ensure all staff know what this means as no staff member in either Cafe El Baccio or Ocean view Cafe knew what this was, neither did our room attendant. Overall our family could see beyond the rowdiness and could see how beAutiful the ship was when most passengers disembarked. However if anyone booked this cruise for a taster of Celebrity cruising, I fear they may not be very impressed. We do have another celebrity cruise in two weeks time on Constellation 9 nights, so hoping my faith in Celebrity will be restored.
