We were looking for a getaway for our 15th wedding anniversary. We picked this cruise because it is a bigger ship than normally sails out of Charleston, SC and it is only a 3.5 hour drive for us. Being our first cruise, we have nothing to compare it to. I will say the port of Charleston is awful. I was warned of that before the trip and getting parked and on the ship was horrible. We had FTTF which eventually allowed us to skip some of the lines. We left port about 1.5 hours late because they were still getting people on the boat. None of this is Carnival's fault. So, once on the boat, we had a blast! Our interior room was larger than we expected and would not hesitate to stay there again. We are vegan and found many options to eat and the MDR was great at accommodating us and allowing us to order food for the next day each night at dinner. Eden Parker was the piano player in the Piano Bar and he was so awesome, we ended up there every night. If I had to come up with a complaint, it would be every single bar needs at least one more bartender and some sort of a "line" so people could get drinks in order. But we really enjoyed our first cruise. With no other boats to compare it to, we had no complaints about what the ship had to offer. We ended up not having time to get in everything we wanted to do.

Cabin 4D

This is one of the new rooms added during the Sunshine remodel. It is in a great, convenient location and was larger than we expected. Would stay in this room again without thinking twice unless I could get a balcony without paying a ton more for it.

Port Reviews

Charleston

Parking and getting on the ship is a horrible experience. This port was not designed for cruise ships and can not handle the traffic for the boat the size of the Sunshine.
