My husband and I chose Harmony of the Seas mainly for the ship. We were not disappointed. We've been on this class of ship before but there are some differences. Embarkation is quick and easy. You will find your sea pass card sealed in an envelope outside your cabin door. There were a number of children onboard, but most were well behaved.
Before this cruise, we did not tour Ft. Lauderdale as we did not have the time; and we have been there before. But the port is right by the airport; which makes transferring to the ship quick.
The crew of this ship are very friendly. They are always pleasant. The ship's captain has the maritime knowledge and quite the personality. The cruise director, Abe is excellent; he knows how to work a crowd. We saw him on Anthem of the Seas last year.
Our cabin was an ocean view with a balcony. Upon entering, you'll see that there is plenty of room for two people. There is plenty of closet and drawer space. The bathroom is standard size but the shower is actually slightly larger than the other RCCL ships. The chairs on the balcony are actually fairly comfortable with separate foot rests. Our cabin was always kept clean and usually made up early; and the bed turned down with a towel creature at the right time.
Our group walked on our own to the Queens Steps. It's not far from the ship. There is a cut out in the hillside. There are many steps that were carved out by slaves long ago. There is a small waterfall by the one side. At the top of the steps, you turn right and it takes you to a small fort on the highest spot of the island. It overlooks the port. Its a nice walk. No one bothers you.
