Ship: Love the ship, we have cruised on the Epic and other cruise lines larger ships but we really like the Sky. You can't get lost but it is big enough to not feel cramped. Embarkation and debarkation were the best we've ever had. We opted to take our bags off ourselves at the end of the cruise and we really appreciate the opportunity to do it. Less stress on the last night since we didn't have to furiously pack and put our bags out!
Crew: Our cabin attendant was not very good. We had a leak in the A/C that created a soaked wet carpet on one side of the bed. When we reported it the first day (before sailing) he cleaned it and "dried" it. We said it was still wet by the evening and he tried to change the subject by asking several times how we liked the elephant (towel art) so we had to escalate the problem by calling guest services. They finally fixed the problem and we were good to go. The cabin attendant was very friendly, but just not very effective. I have to say that Norwegian Sky was terrific - they sent chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of wine for our inconvenience.
Food/drink: The buffet was excellent; the bar off the pool deck was our go to place. It was relatively quiet and had comfy seating as well as a stocked bar. The cruise included alcohol and that was so nice, We didn't have to show our cabin cards when ordering alcoholic drinks. The ice cream machine offered vanilla and chocolate with cones or dishes.
We received an offer to upgrade to a balcony a few days before sailing and it was a great deal $200/each. We usually book balcony cabins but this ship's balconies were really pricey. We are so glad we were able to upgrade at a reasonable rate. The only problem was that the A/C had a leak and the carpet on one side of the bed was soaked. It took us awhile to convince the cabin steward that we needed A/C repair not carpet clean/dry but after calling guest services we got it fixed and we received wine and strawberries for our inconvenience - a very nice gesture. The cabin was small but we expected that. It was workable for the short cruise.
I already rated my experience in my narrative. I recommend Parisien Cabaret it was fantastic, and Hemingway tour (even though we didn't go to Cojimar). The Rum, Cigar, Art tour was okay - the El Tocororo Restaurant was the highlight.
We cancelled our excursion - wave runner - because the water was really choppy. The tenders even had to be delayed. The beach is really pretty and the food was pretty good - the tacos were excellent. Drinks were free which was a nice surprise. As I said the beach was beautiful but don't let that fool you - when you wade in the water there are ROCKS and everyone was stumbling over them (me too, I stubbed my toe and it turned a lovely black/blue). People kept warning each other. Other than that it was very picturesque and a fun end to the cruise.
