we boarded the Caribbean princess april 17th which was originally to be its first sailing and we had a ball!
The ship itself is beautiful, super huge with lots of people but it always feels empty. staff that must hide in the wood work or something for you never see them unless you need them ... then they are right there. the nightly entertainment was great ....especially the comic and the piano player Burt. I know I didn't get to see all of the shows because there are a couple different venues that perform at the same time and not to mention the movies under the stars with the free popcorn that is passed around as you are bundled up on your cozy lounge chair with pillow and blanket that is there waiting for you under the stars nightly.
We choose the western itinerary for all the very active ports of call and were extremely impressed with the excursion companies that Princess works with. Great people who are highly organized...unlike what we saw going on for other people who went on other types of ships. in jamaica we did Dunn's rivers falls and we were protected by the money hounding locals by our guide. grand cayman, we did the highlights and snorkeled with the sting ray.. our guide found the perfect spot and treated us so well compared to other boat captains who were treating their passengers like cattle. Cozumel...we did Tulum and xel ha... the ruins are sooooo hot that all we wanted to do was get in the water so when the driver took us to xel ha we were more than ready to do our snorkeling. but the driver was so knowledgeable that it was completely worth getting that hot at the ruins.
