Sail Date: May 2017
Cabin: Inside Stateroom

We sailed on May 7, 2017 with a number of friends and family members. My husband and I have sailed with NCL on 3 previous occassions (Dawn, Spirit and the Jade). First two experiences very positive but was disappointed with our last cruise with NCL. However we decided to try them once again with this 7 day cruise to Bermuda. First of all we would have never selected this particular itinerary if we were going on our own as we had down the same trip 2 years previous on Celebrity but since we were sailing with a group we decided to give it a try. We were very concerned about sailing on such a large ship but honestly didn't find it overcrowded or crazy at meal time or during other activities. It is a very nice ship, well laid out and probaby the "cleanest" ship I have ever been on. The staff was terrific, very attentive and friendly. We opted for a inside cabin and chose the Beverage Package as our "perk". This turned out to be a excellent choice, the drinks are expensive so this was a very good value. The drinks were great and the bar staff was right on the ball. The inside cabin was I think the smallest inside room we have ever been in but it was comfortable and served our purpose nicely. We choose the early embarkation and were checked in efficiently and in about 20 minutes start to finish. Disembarkation however was a complete other story taking about 2 hours. We docked into NY about a hour late (due to currents in the Hudson) ... while this was no fault of NCL the herding of passengers off the ship was a circus. Instead of placing folks in the "common" areas like the theater and lobby's they crowded everyone into stairways ... I myself rode up and down in one of the elevators for 20 minutes (it kept bypassing the floor we needed to exit) I completely get that they wanted to clean cabins for oncoming passengers but seriously need to rethink their treatment of passengers getting off. Thankfully we had our luggage with us otherwise it would have been at least another hour to find our bags at the baggage area. This was my major complaint of the cruise along with the terrible cruise director Alvin who we only saw or heard from around the pool (which by the way is totally a ridiculous size for 4000 passengers it serves). Alvin would SCREAM everything he said (which was unintelligible). The poolside music was also definitely not geared toward my age group. Loud.... so loud in fact that you had a hard time understanding what the heck they were singing about but the few words I coud detect it was probably best that you couldn't understand what they were saying. The other shipboard "entertainment" was good. We loved "Rock of Ages" and I would definitely say it was just as good as the Broadway production that I saw. The seats in the theater however need a major overhaul... you could feel steelbars in each one very uncomfortable. We chose to eat in the main dining room for dinner every night (The Manhattan) we all found the food to be of very high quality and quite delicious even though were quite unimaginative, no lobster tail in fact we were not even sure that there was a Captains Dinner. The Buffet was very good and had a lot of choices also it was kind of amazing that it wasn't a zoo up there with so many passengers .... but it truly wasn't. Based on this trip I would definitely sail on NCL again but because of the disembarkation craziness I would stick with a smaller ship.

Cabin Review

Inside Stateroom

Cabin ID

A bit of a hike from the elevators but a comfortable room which interestingly had no drawers but had cubbies (which really was fine). It had a nice size closet with a safe and plenty of shelves. Two little endtables again with cubbies. Bathroom was small but had a enclosed shower with shampoo and liquid soap. Beds were very comfortable, firm but not too hard. Our neighbors were quite and we slept very well. Our cabin attendant "Wilfred" was very nice and helpful and our room was always clean and made up promptly.
