We departed Miami for a transatlantic cruise ending in Copenhagen. The drama started when we missed our port in the Azores. It was understandable as the seas were too rough to dock. Safety first. However, there were customs officials scheduled to board the ship in the Azores, their boarding would have given us time to clear customs for our stop in Southampton. We had a stop in Brest France prior to our Southampton stop and NCL could have had the 4 agents load our ship in Brest to save the time we need to explore Southampton. That didn't happen. So we missed the Azores, once again understandable due to safety. We then headed to Brest France. It took many of us 3 hours to leave the ship due to the very unorganized processing. By the time many of us got off the ship, we had to load almost immediately in order to meet the required boarding time. It took many of us another 1.5 hours to board. There were problems with the gangplank so only one was available to offload a ship with more than 4000 passengers. I would suggest NCL not bring a ship of that size to Brest again. When we pulled out of Brest, apparently the ship was damaged. We were told a prop was damaged which slowed our available cruising speed. We later learned we would have to skip a port in order to end our cruise on time. They decided to skip Brugge Belgium. We heard many passengers comment that Belgium was their main reason for selecting this cruise. We wanted to see that location in the worst way. Very disappointing. We then make it to Southampton and we have challenges clearing customs as they only brought the 4 person team on the ship the morning we were scheduled to depart. We got off the ship late and although they still gave us the 4 hours we were supposed to have in London, we were there too late to enjoy many of the attractions. We were supposed to be there during the day and instead we were there in the afternoon, into the evening. We didn't get back to the ship until 11:30PM. We did get $200 ship credit but that certainly didn't make up for the disappointments. NCL could do better to attract customers on this cruise back to the cruise line. We've been on other cruise lines and we'll use them versus NCL. So sad as the staff tried extremely hard to keep the customers happy. Also, communication to passengers was not as open as we would have liked to see. There were several times on the cruise that we were not communicated the plan for the contingencies when things went wrong. We heard this from many passengers.
