this was a very good cruise. In General, found Princess has better food and food variety than RC, RC has better entertainment in terms of cast productions. Service is excellent on Princess. Although, the one night in the any time dining room, service was very slow.Buffet in Horizon Court[pool deck]was terrific for lunch and dinner the first 3 nights..after that it was very good, and service always on the spot there. Very well run.
Most outstanding boutique entertainment was Bert Stratton; a terrific piano player and singer, very funny, has enormous repetoire, involves the audienceeveryone wanted to sing a long on cuefans grew steadily each night, and it was SRO 3-4 deep sometimes at the small lounge area, then sro in the bigger theaters they eventually put him in..great fun. Comedian from Comedy central was very funny; the one reggae /rocknroll band was great as well with very talented lead singer who was constant motion. The first cast production was excellent; they started going downhill , probably because Princess has the cast repeat the productions on successive nightsthat is 4 showscast has to get tired, as did the audience , and by the last production lead female singer hit a lot of flat notes, in contrast to very first in which she was marvelous. By the end, it was more tiresome and shopworn than bad borscht belt.
Had great weather. The ports were wonderful. Every one of them. Newport, Boston, Bar Harbor ,St Johns and Halifax, which was most surprising. Reminded me a bit of beautiful Victoria, BC from the alaska cruise [on the line whose service was pathetic, but never to be travelled on again]
Princess needs to improve their beds and pillows. soft and mushy, and the pillows tiny.. this was for inside cabin
but RC Independence of the Seas had great beds in inside cabinsof course it is or was a brand new ship, but Princess could improve in this area
