We have cruised with NCL for the past six years with a total of 15 cruises. Every ship we have been on has had its ups and downs. The Gem was the first ship we sailed on and we have seen changes on it over the years. The food was just average and the dinning at the Italian restaurant was less than average. Although the other restaurants (Cagney's for one) we enjoyed the food. The entertainment especially the dancers was above average. I felt the staff was always trying to do their best. They always had a smile on there face and ready to assist when needed. We took this cruise just to relax and enjoy the ocean and that we achieved. Our cabin was always cleaned and ready for use. Getting on and off the ship did not present any problem or delay. The exception was going through customs. I felt they did not staff the checkpoint with enough customs agents. Overall NCL has provided a pleasant escape for a week.
