I always wanted to explore Rome. Boarding in Barcelona and only having a few hours just would not have met my wants, So. We boarded in Rome and after the cruise, spent 5 days in Rome. Everything on ship was great. The Shore Excursions were not all so great. Avoid the Nice Little White Train excursion like the plague... Too much time in bus. Tour guide sent us off on our own for a visit to the flower market. 6 blocks there and 6 back with only 40 minutes total time and she just disappeared! The little train excursion was actually good but that was all there was. The bus driver must have been upset that the group was 10 minutes late getting back from the tram and he had to circle the block one extra time. When we were still boarding, he floored the petal and my wife and I were both slammed down the isle into other passengers seats. When we got to the dock, I asked the tour guide for her and the bus drivers names written down. Nope... I did find the supervisor and spoke to him and then to the Shore Excursions manager on board. NCL gave us a refund on the excursion. BUT... there is not enough time allowed to drive to Nice, do a walk on the promenade, visit the flower market, drink or eat anything and barely enough to go to the WC. They need to cancel this excursion.
