We chose this cruise because we were travelling with a large group of teenagers/high school graduates and young adults who wanted a lot of activities onboard. We had a rocky start as the computerized photos went down during our check in procedure causing major delays. We were glad that we had gotten there at 10:30am so that we made it onboard in time to get lunch (phenomenal buffet) before they shut down for safety briefing. Once onboard we forgot almost everything because of the beauty of the ship and the phenomenal buffets.
Our only negatives were that our wait staff and friends room attendants didn't seem as friendly as Carnivale, and it took us almost 2 hours to get onboard (because of the aforesaid problems). There was no compensation offered for the inconvenience of port experience.
Having said that everyone agreed that we would cruise Royal Caribbean again because of the phenomenal entertainment (don't miss any of the shows!), the ship amenities (flowrider and advanced water park) and the food and cleanliness of the ship.
Small but very functional. Very limited closet space but extra drawers and vanity. The sofa and small table are overkill. I would have preferred more closet space and less living room (as carnivale does). Shower round but one of our party fell when the boat got rocky because there is not bar to hold on to in the shower (teenager). Clean! Refrigerator for drinks and ladders for bunks (easy fit for 4).
All the teenagers and I(the only adult) took the ship tour called Aqua Adventure because we had $25 per person credit that needed to be used. Originally we were not going to get off the boat as 3 ports in a row seemed a bit much for some of our younger travellers. We left the youngest onboard with a willing adult, and a few other adults went on Mayan Ruin ship excursion which they said was excellent and brought them back to the ship in time for lunch! The teens were done with all the slides and Mayan ruin themed aqua park lasted 3 hours then we shuttled back to the ship (which we could have walked it was that close). We also shopped in the main square on our way back in. If we would not have had the credit we would have simply walked off the ship and used the sparkling pool in the main square (it was cleaner than the water park's water which was green). The teens all enjoyed the slides, though, and the food in the water park was excellent. Bring water shoes if you don't want to walk on sand filled with red ants in the water park. This is not a "paved" or "sidewalked" park. It is dirt and rock based.
We had been to Cozumel before and wanted to go back to Paradise Beach. This was everyone's favorite port as the inflatables, the excellent Mojitos and drinks, the food, and the snorkelling, kayaking equipment were fabulous. Be aware that if you rent a van it is $12 per person PLUS tip. Also the drivers offered us a "deal" on the package. $28 for full access and ride there and back, $18 for just the beach and ride there and back. Once there everyone needs to spend $10 per person on drinks and food. For our party of 3 we spent $50 and had: 2 mojitos, hamburger and fries (better than the ship), 2 orders of chips and guacamole and salsa (phenomenal) and a beer. We highly recommend this beach and will return as often as possible!
We booked our own excursion with Victor Bodden tours as we had a large party of 23 they met us in our own air conditioned bus and took us on a brief tour, then most of us ziplined and all saw the monkeys, sloths and other animals (and took lots of pictures). The guides and the drivers were friendly and helpful. All our teenagers gave this excursion a 9 out of 10. Do be prepared that all the zipliners and zoo attendants will ask for tips so if you are budgeting include $5-10 per person for tips.
